Science Fiction Review 37

  1. SCIENCE FICTION REVIEW 37 - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. This is what the fanzine, "Science Fiction Review," looked like in its 2nd stage.

During the 1980s I was doing so many covers for fanzines that they became the major contributors to my income. In fact, most fanzine editors paid me more for a drawing than the professional magazine editors did.

Actually, the artwork that I did for fan publications was done with the same effort that I gave to the professional publications, even before the fan editors started paying. I never drew a picture "fast" just to send something to a fan publisher, especially at the very beginning when I was trying to make an impression, to get noticed. Whatever quality was in my artwork, at any given period, was the best that I could do at the time.
